I have just completed reading Mark Batterson’s latest book, Primal. This work looks at Christ’s view of the greatest commandment to love YHWH with all your heart, soul, mind and strength. What does it look like to live this out personally and eventually corporately? Mark challenges his readers to consider each segment of Christ’s command by way of opening their eyes to the reality that has consumed so many, apathy. Primal is a short but powerful read. However, there were several instances where I was forced to put the book down to consider my successes and more so my failures in meeting this commandment. Primal addresses our generation and challenges us to move forward. But I believe its message can span many generations as we all could probably improve our game on some level. If you’re looking for a book to motivate you to seek ways to love God more, this is the book for you. Make your New Year’s resolution to read this book and discover the Lost Soul of Christianity!
