Mid January Happenings w/ the McLeods

School’s back in and it didn’t start slow for me! I can’t say the same for Molly and Wyatt. The kids haven’t had a full week of school since early December (snow days). I have attended most of my classes and must say I am quite pleased. Homiletics I, Act of the Apostles, World Missions and Evangelism, Old Testament Poetry (I hope the professor can make it cool), Intro to Biblical Languages and Tools and Principles of Organizational Behavior, plus 3 Chapels per week and 4 hours of Student Ministry per week. I don’t think Student Ministry should be considered volunteer work if they make you do it… I’m excited to see what that entails…

The progress on the house has been slower than I would like. Courtney is doing well on her portion, painting. Mine seems to be dragging. I have learned much though. I will have mad tiling skills by the time this project is complete. We still need to sand the floors and get them finished. We’re getting closer…

We had an interesting weekend. Courtney got to see her BFF Tina. Yes, I actually used the term BFF and perhaps properly. She flew into town last Thursday and left this morning. They visited some of the small historic towns here in eastern TN. She said they had fun. I really enjoyed getting to see her also. I know the kids did as well.

Tina wasn’t our only visitor this weekend. We enjoyed the company of some of our favorite Milligan students Abbitha (Abby) and Shayla. Molly really enjoyed hanging out with them. We all played some mean wallyball with Nathan K and generally had a good time. Wyatt fell playing on the ice outside the EAC and bloodied up his elbow; nothing to write home about. I guess that’s not true as I just blogged about it.

Life here has been fairly calm. This is very different from back home. My friend Doug found out he has a late stage cancer. Courtney and I cry every time we discuss his dilemma, but at the same time we are excited to see a miracle happen in Doug’s life. We love his family dearly. We got to know them through teaching the college age class at CCDS and even more so hog/squirrel hunting with Doug and his boys. I look forward to doing that again!!!

That’s the news from TN for mid January. BTW, look for me to be preaching somewhere this semester as it is a requirement for Hom I. Gotta wonder what that’s going to look like…

Until next time, keep praying for Haiti and please donate here. I.D.E.S. is sending 100% of your donations to Haiti.
